Situated along one of the most geographically stunning junctures of Africa's Western Cape, South Africa is a place really only capable of expression through first-hand experience. To assign words to a place like Cape Town is ultimately to reduce the place to something too limited. Architecture, culture, food, language, design - Cape Town has it all. Ultimately, what separates this place from others is its mountainous backdrop. In Cape Town, you are constantly orienting yourself  based on the mountains around you. Devil's Peak, Lion's Head, and Table Mountain are iconically situated in such a way that their descent from land out into the ocean creates what is locally called the City Bowl. 

The photos in this series were taken in 2014 on 35mm. They were taken during 8 months spent living/studying in Cape Town. Photos are from Cape Town, Stellenbosch, and the False Bay area.
